Perennial, evergreen herbaceous plant, it forms a dense, elegant and arched tuft, with very thin bronze-brown foliage: the effect is that of a 'fountain'. Enhanced in pots, useful for adding a touch of color and structure to flowerbeds.

Carexes are particularly easy to grow. This perennial is adaptable to a wide variety of conditions, from sun to partial shade to shade. Being evergreen, it is interesting for creating movement and soul all year round in the garden, in borders as well as in pots and bowls, where it remains unchanged in every season.

Suitable as a garnish to other sun plants that love humidity, such as herbaceous hibiscus, mimulus, lysimachia, persicaria... and undergrowth plants, such as ferns, hellebores, epimedium, geranium, liriope, hosta.

The name 'Carex' derives from the Greek "kéiro" meaning 'I cut', referring to the thin margins of the leaves of this genus. 'Comans' comes from Latin and means 'with long hair'.
