Notes of interest
Use in cooking: The leaves and flowers of oxalis are edible. The leaves have a sour taste. They can be used in salads and soups or in any other dish. However, they contain oxalic acid, so don't use too much, which is good practice with any ingredient. Oxalic acid is found in small amounts in many vegetables and fruits, including rhubarb, spinach, mustard, poppy seeds, sweet potatoes, cabbage, squash, strawberries, mangoes, tomatoes, and parsnips, to name a few.
Herbal properties: In small doses, given the content of oxalic acid, it has an anti-cold action, taken in the form of tea made with 1 gram of herb per 1 liter of water. Oxalis can provide relief from urinary tract infections. Taken as a gargle it also appears to have some effect on mouth pain and ulcers. Externally, it can be beneficial for cuts, scrapes, rashes, and skin infections.

I got dead plant | |
Oxana S. il giorno 06/17/2019 | The plant came full of yellow leaves that wilt on the following day |
Risposta: Oxalis bowiei is absolutely not dead or dying, it is a bulbous plant with reverse vegetation, in summer, when it is hot, it keeps few leaves or goes completely to rest; instead from autumn to spring, it blooms and develops magnificent large leaves. We have sent you a vase full of roots and bulbs which currently presents itself with few leaves or yellow leaves: this is completely normal. It should be wet a little, just so that it does not completely dry the bulb, but let it dry between one watering and another. A very rare oxalis. Many thanks for your shopping and please let us know :-) |
