Purple-leaved Weigela, very compact and low maintenance, should be pruned immediately after flowering, removing old and weak branches, favoring young green and smooth ones. It does not exceed 150 cm. The contrast of the striking purple/black foliage with the abundant pink trumpet-shaped flowers make it one of the most showy deciduous shrubs. Adaptable to most locations and also tolerant of shade, where the leaves become more green-bronze.
