Cuphea hyssopifolia 'Rosea'

Perennial shrub, it produces vivid pink flowers for the entire summer-autumn season. Also suitable for the apartment or hothouse.

Beautiful warm climate shrub plant, attractive for its abundant production of small, trumpet-shaped flowers with six petals and very fine, elongated foliage. It can be grown in pots in a domestic environment as long as it is placed in bright light or in the sun. Excellent in the garden if placed in mixed borders as a background plant. The flowers attract pollinating insects and in their areas of origin, Mexico and Guatemala, they are visited by hummingbirds. Perennial in the areas of origin it is treated as an annual where the climate is colder.

Characteristics
Description of flowers: small, trumpet-shaped with six petals
Flower color: intense fuchsia; the species is purple/lilac.

Leaves: Elliptical lancet-shaped, opposite, intense green, similar to hyssop leaves as the name of the species describes.

Cultivation
Exposure: Full sun, but also tolerates light shade. Loves intense heat.
Soil: Loose or clayey, but with good drainage.
Irrigation: Normal, tolerates light drought.
Frost resistance: USDA 9 where it will behave like a fuchsia, losing part of the area and then growing back in spring. From USDA 10 it remains intact like any other shrub.

Care
Pruning: In spring. Continuous periodic trimming to trim the shape.
Propagation: From seed or cutting with more than 20°C.
